What Is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a methodology of natural health care that has been in worldwide use for over two hundred years. With the aim of restoring their own healing capability Homeopathy treats each person as a specific individual. A homeopath chooses the most suitable medicine based on the individual's distinct symptoms and personal level of health.
It is known by the World Health Organisation as the 2nd largest curative system in use in the world. While it is most accepted in South America and India, over 30 million people in Europe, and a great number of people through-out the world, also avail from its use.
The name homeopathy, coined by its originator, Samuel Hahnemann, is obtained from the Greek words for ‘similar suffering’ introducing to the ‘like cures like’ concept of healing. Hahnemann was born in Germany 250 years ago. At this time the old world-view was being refurbished and conventional beliefs, many insubstantially based upon superstition, were being highly subjected to the severity of experimental survey and evaluation. The use of Homeopathy is established upon science while its implementation is an art.
Homeopathy is founded on 2 concepts that have prevailed frequently all through the saga of medicine, both in western and eastern worlds. The first principle of ‘like cures like’ can be looked at in many ways. One way is to suppose that the body knows what it is doing and that indications are the body’s way of taking action to conquer illness. This healing reaction is involuntary in living organisms; we phrase it the vital response. The similar medicine acts as a boost to the natural vital response, giving it the information it needs to finish its healing work. Since the prime action of the critical response in addition to the medicine is to raise the strength of the symptoms, this is our first sign of inner healing taking place, of diseases being cured from within – pushed outwards along the traditional path of past and present signs.
Before the medicines are determined upon, their curative powers are detected by testing them out on healthy human participants and carefully noting, physical ,mental and emotional changes. This is termed a ‘proving’. This information comprises the basis for ‘like cures like’, for a medicine’s distinctive symptom picture must match up with the individual’s unique statement of their disease, that is, the present and existing symptoms of the disease.
The 2nd principle, that only ‘the minimum dose’ should be used is based upon the conclusion that the motive of the medicine works from within the life or energy and is not forced from the outside. Only enough is dispensed to begin the healing process, which then carries on, piloted by its own internal healing errand. Homeopathic medicines are given in minimum doses, while they do to boost the body’s life preserving response, do not create the undesirable side effects that are so often the pit-fall of traditional treatment.
Why is homeopathy so favoured?
- To bring about health and well-being, homeopathic treatment works with your body’s own healing powers. You are treated as a unique individual, not as a troupe of disease tags.
- Homeopathy treats all your signs at all levels of your being – physical mental and emotional and finds the ‘like cures like’ counterpart for them.
- Providing the minimum dose, homeopathically prepared remedies, are powerful, gentle and subtle. They are do not cause addiction and are not proven on animals.
