Vinyasa is a Sanskrit word that translates to arrange or place something in a certain way. Vinyasa yoga links breath with movement. This form of yoga coordinates these two and creates a flow from one pose to the next. The great South Indian master Krishnamacharya, championed the vinyasa approach as central to the transformative process of yoga.
What do you do in Vinyasa yoga?
It involves practicing poses in special ways in a specific sequence. Each pose is held for five breaths and only one breath between transitions. The body moves in sync with your breath thus creating a flow and smooth movement.
There are certain sequences but no specific book to follow which makes it one of the most diverse and unique forms of yoga and gives the person the ability to practice something creative and challenging. It can also be coordinated with music making it fun and vibrant as well.
