Summer is an intense season with high temperature and heat causing discomfort to many. And if you consume heavy, oily, or spicy food items it can cause you even more trouble as you will be more prone to gastric problems and will constantly feel uneasy. To save you from the pain, here are a few suggestions for keeping your summer diet healthy and light:
Fruits and vegetables:
Raw fruits and vegetables are a great source to keep the body nourished and hydrated. Eating fruits like banana will help maintain healthy concentration of electrolytes and will also improve digestion. Other fruits and vegetables will also help you keep your energy levels high, without being heavy on the stomach.
Curd has a very cooling effect on the digestive system. It also contains bacteria good for digestion processes. Most food items which make your stomach full also make you uneasy but it is not the same with curd. Instead of curd, you can also opt for buttermilk, which is again a very healthy summer drink.
Eating salads rich in green leafy vegetables is also recommended during this season. Eating leafy vegetables is good for the skin and prevents skin from the harmful exposure of UV rays of the sum. It will also keep your mood fresh without feeling any physical inertia.
If you do not like eating raw fruits or vegetables or have problems carrying them, then this alternative is for you. Drinking fruit juice or smoothie in place of hot food items like tea or coffee is a good way to keep your body hydrated, fresh, and active during the summers.
Keeping a few nuts handy while travelling or otherwise is also a great hack. Nuts also make your stomach full without causing burning sensations or discomfort and needless to say, are a healthy choice for snacks.
