1. Food poisoning: 

If you ingest unhygienic food items containing bacteria and other harmful microorganisms, your stomach may hurt. The pain might not be very severe but is enough to distract you from your daily chores. Food poisoning is one of the leading causes of stomach ache that can be easily dealt with.  

2. Trapped gas: 

Many times, gas trapped in your stomach can be the reason for pain. Again it is a minor ailment without any serious implications but can be very painful. Bloating is a very common thing and you can just treat it by just letting the gas out.  

3. Gastroenteritis: 

If you have cramps in the stomach accompanied with diarrhoea, it may be due to a viral or bacterial infection in your stomach (gastroenteritis). It can happen either when you come close to an infected person, or due to eating infected food items.  

4. Irritable bowel syndrome(IBS): 

If the symptoms of gastroenteritis occur to you repeatedly and you have frequent cramps with diarrhoea, you may be suffering from irritable bowel syndrome. This can cause you repeated stomach aches and you should consider visiting a doctor.  

5. Stomach ulcer: 

Stomach ulcers can cause a sharp and burning pain. It caused due to a bleeding and open sore in the lines of your stomach. If it does not go away on its own, your doctor may prescribe you some medications to treat it.  

6. Other long-term diseases: 

Besides IBS, there are many other long-term diseases which may cause you recurring abdominal pain like IBD, Crohn’s disease, Urinary tract infection etc. If you suffer from recurring stomach pain, it is advisable to visit a doctor as early as possible.
