A physical exercise powerful enough to cause lactate to form is called Anaerobic exercise is. Athletes use it in non-endurance sports to aid speed power and strength and also by body builders to build muscle mass.

Difference between Aerobic & Anaerobic Exercise

Exercise involving the whole body is called Aerobic Exercises, while exercise generally targeting individual muscle groups is called Anaerobic Exercise.

Compared to aerobic exercise, muscle energy systems practiced using anaerobic exercise develop differently, leading to pronounced performance in short duration, high intensity activities, which last from minimal seconds to up to about two minutes Any activity lasting longer than about 2 minutes has a immense aerobic metabolic elements.

Anaerobic energy disbursement or anaerobic metabolism is an unrefined part of entire body metabolic energy disbursal. Fast twitch muscle works using anaerobic metabolic arrangement, such that any enrollment of fast twitch muscle fibers leads to increased anaerobic energy disbursal, as compared to slow twitch muscle.

It is troublesome to correctly measure the anaerobic energy expenditure, although various logical methods to evaluate the anaerobic elements to exercise are available.

In contrast, aerobic exercise involves lower intensity activities performed for longer duration of time. To generate the energy needed for extended exercise (i.e., aerobic energy expenditure) activities such as long slow runs, walking, cycling and rowing require a great deal of oxygen. The anaerobic system enables muscles to recover for the next burst, in sports which require repeated short bursts of exercise however

The two types of anaerobic energy systems are:

1) High energy phosphates, adenosine triphosphate and creatine phosphate;

2) Anaerobic glycolysis. The former is called alactic anaerobic and the latter lactic anaerobic system. High energy phosphates are saved in limited amounts within muscle cells.
