The two-day event features more than 20 experts sharing insights about precision medicine in the here-and-now and the promise it holds for the future.

Precision medicine: It’s not just a future-state everyone hopes will arrive soon. Rather, cutting-edge hospitals already have aggressive programs underway to tailor personalized care to patients and populations alike.

Count the Mayo Clinic, Penn Medicine, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, The University of Texas, Brigham and Women’s, University of California at San Francisco, Stanford and Washington University among those.

Executives, researchers and experts from those and other leading providers will be speaking at the HIMSS and Healthcare IT News Precision Medicine Summit in Boston on June 12-13, 2017.

Eric Dishman, director of the National Institutes of Health’s All of Us precision medicine research program is on tap to deliver the opening keynote. Dishman, a cancer survivor cured after 23 years because of precision medicine techniques, will provide a talk about “Accelerating Precision Medicine for Everyone.”

The first day will feature sessions on genomics, gene therapy, how genome editing could re-shape the science of medicine — as well as some of the blocking and tackling of precision medicine, including overcoming informatics and other challenges and curing cancer.

Progressing from there, the second day kicks off with a keynote titled “Moving From Precision Medicine to Precision Health” by Lynda Chin, MD, Chief Innovation Officer for Health Affairs at the University of Texas System.

The second day’s agenda also includes sessions on ethical issues, integrating genomics into electronic health records systems, a doctor-patient’s perspective on precision medicine, the role of empiric data on the path to genomic medicine, social determinants of health.
