Healthy Foods that are good for Road Trips
To have something portable and easy doesn’t mean you have to chuck our all your normal healthy eating habits. If you are a boredom of eating on road trips, so fruits and veggies are where it is at for me. Everyone gets frustrated by the lack of fruit and vegetable options. A little preparation beforehand would make things a lot easier.
1. Mozzarella string cheese and apple slices.
It has protein, as well as a small amount of healthy fat and some complex carbohydrates to keep hunger down and energy up.
2. Beef jerky
Protein is the most hunger satisfying nutrient. Jerky is loaded with preservatives and sodium, natural-food stores or organic groceries.
3. Carrot sticks or grapes
The crunch of biting and chewing the carrot sticks will probably help keep you awake and alert.

It is a protein powerhouse, it will keep you feeling satisfied until your next fill. The nuts or fruit provide energy, fibre, and healthy nutrients.
7. Hard-boiled eggs and whole-wheat crackers.
Easy to carry and eat behind the wheel, they are full of protein. Combine them with the complex carbs and nutrients found in the whole-wheat crackers, and it will make you feel full and energized for hours.
8. Peanut butter sandwich
It is a healthy source of protein and fat. An ideal combo to keep you feeling full. Use whole wheat bread to get all the benefits of complex carbohydrates.
9. Sunflower seeds
They are a good source of healthy fats. It also contains magnesium which is good for heart health.
10. Protein bars
Most are loaded with sugar. Avoid bars with isolated soy protein, an ingredient with some potentially worrying health effects.
11. Coconut water
It is very much needed when you have a headache on a road trip.
12. Roasted spiced Almonds
These sugar-free toasted almonds feature olive oil and spicy cayenne pepper, making them the perfect, easy to reach snack to keep you energized and feeling alert.
13. Italian Lentil Salad
The hearty green lentil salad features crisp bell peppers and refreshing cucumber with toasted hazelnuts for extra protein and crunch.
14. Oatmeal Raisin Sandwich Cookies
These are stuffed with protein-packed peanut butter and fibre-filled oats.
