Does skipping dinner help in weight loss?
We don’t recommend fasting but research shows that selective fasting has benefits. Let’s find out what the relationship between dinner and weight loss is:
This basically means you eat during a smaller window of time every day and instead of fasting relentlessly you skip or have an early dinner. A study conducted showed that individuals who were overweight burnt more fat at night and felt fewer hunger pangs when they skipped or ate early dinner.
We cannot say for sure what the exact relationship between the two are but this is definitely a healthy option because people have reported to have had very few instances of feeling hungry when they adopted this form of diet and have burnt fat over a period of time.
Unlike the crash diet, this diet is safe to practice but advisable only for adults and not pregnant women or children.
How does this work
This diet only works if you ensure you don’t compensate the skipped dinner by increasing you calorie intake the following morning in your breakfast and lunch. Ideally, distribute your overall calorie intake between breakfast, lunch and snacks to ensure your calorie count is in check. This means you are cutting down on say 500-600 calories a day owed to the skipped dinner which in-turn helps you burn off some fat.
The idea is for you to eat between 8am to 3-4pm and then fast for 16-18 hours till the following morning. Of course, it is important for you to ensure your meals are healthy so that your body gets all the required nutrients for a healthy living. We recommend that you consult a certified dietician or a doctor before you begin this diet just to be on the safer end and get a professional opinion.
