Do you need dental braces?
White and even teeth are associated with health and beauty by many. And who doesn’t want perfectly placed and shaped symmetric teeth. However, in some cases, the dental growth may not be uniform and aligned, especially in children. To treat such cases, dental braces are used. And not only for health and beauty, braces are also used to tackle many orthodontic problems. Here are signs which suggest that you may need dental braces.
It is the most common reason, especially in children, to get braces. It happens when there is insufficient space for all the teeth to grow and thus teeth grow in a non aligned way. It often happens when milk teeth fall and permanent ones begin to grow. It sometimes leads to teeth growing in front and back of each other instead of side by side. It can further lead to very complex or painful complications and therefore must be treated at early age itself. Braces help aligning the teeth and make their growth normal.
This is the opposite of crowding. It may happen that some of your teeth are missing, or teeth have too much gap in between them, or the teeth grow disproportionately (some too big while others too small). In such cases too, getting dental braces can help address these issues.
Observe your bite:
When you bite, your upper and lower teeth should clinch together. But many times, it is not the case, as your upper teeth may extend and cover over your lower ones (overbite), or the vice-versa may happen (underbite), or improper positioning of upper teeth over lower teeth (crossbite). These can also lead to complications with time and should be treated by dental braces as early as possible.
Some other signs may hint at improper alignment of teeth like:
- Lisping, which may be caused due to improper alignment of upper and lower jaws.
- Foul breath due to crowding which makes it impossible to clean teeth properly.
- Repeatedly getting food stuck in teeth may also hint to improper spacing and growth.
