Coping up with pain in the abdominal region is not the best feeling and in children, this is a common phenomenon. Most children with stomach pain are rushed to the hospital where few get better in hours, others take days to recover.

Causes of abdominal pain in children

The cause of the pain is usually not found but we have listed down few for possible reasons. Give it a read.

1. Infections 

Kidney, gastroenteritis, or bladder infections also are an underlying cause of abdominal pain.

2. Gut Problem

Bowl or gut problems like constipation, colic or irritable bowel can be a major reason for stomach/abdominal pain.

3. Surgery 

Appendicitis, intussusception (telescoping of part of the gut) and bowel obstruction or

4. Food Poisoning

Bacteria and virus-contaminated food can cause “food poisoning.” This is marked symptoms of food poisoning are– cramps or pain in the abdominal region, nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, dehydration, and fever.

5. Muscle strain or a migraine

This can also be an underlying cause of abdominal pain.
