There are many people who suffer from hearing loss. This can affect anyone at any age. In Ayurveda, hearing loss is also known as Karna Badhirya in which Karna represents a vital sense organ, and Badhirya represents a disease (difficulty in hearing). According to Ayurveda, there are effective ways to treat and prevent hearing loss.

Types of hearing loss

There are three different kinds of hearing loss, including conductive hearing loss, sensorineural hearing loss, and mixed hearing loss.

Conductive hearing loss: This type of hearing occurs when there is a damage or obstruction to the middle or outer ear that prevents the sound wave from being reached out to the inner ear. Conductive hearing loss is less common and can be permanent or temporary.

Sensorineural hearing loss: This type of hearing is prevalent among people of all age groups. Sensorineural hearing loss is a partial loss of hearing and can occur when the tiny hair-like cells of your inner ear or your auditory nerve itself get damage entirely. It weakens or prevents the transfer of nerve signals to the brain.

Mixed hearing loss: This is a combination of both conductive and sensorineural hearing loss.
