Asthma Treatment in Ayurveda
Asthma is a long-term inflammatory disease of the airways of the lungs that causes coughing, a stiffness of the chest, and shortness of breath. WHO estimates show that about 235 million people currently suffer from asthma, making it one of the most common diseases known to mankind. And about 2.5 lakh people die every year as a result of this disease. A handful of lifestyle changes, home remedies, and natural treatments go a long way in treating and managing asthma.
What triggers asthma?

Asthma is known as shwas rog in Ayurveda. According to ayurveda, the imbalance between the three doshas of the body i.e. Vata, Pitta, and Kapha results in health issues. Accumulation of aggravated Kapha dosha in airways causes asthma according to ayurveda.
The Panchakarma treatment of Ayurveda proves effective in removing the doshas of the Pitta and Kapha, along with disease-causing factors while providing the body with the much-needed lubrication.
Ayurvedic remedies for Asthma treatment:
The following ayurvedic home remedies will help in lowering the frequency as well as the intensity of asthma attacks:
Ginger is a highly respected root in ayurveda and is used for the treatment of various diseases and ailments. A juice blend of ginger, pomegranate, and honey works well to treat asthma at home. If consumed twice a day, it will show favorable results.
Dried figs should be soaked in water, overnight and consumed the next morning on an empty stomach. The water can be consumed as well and provides relief from the problem of asthma.
Honey is probably regarded as the best way to ease asthma and has various other health benefits. The remedy includes having a teaspoon of honey mixed with hot water at least thrice a day; or one teaspoon of honey mixed with half teaspoon of cinnamon powder before sleeping.
Onions possess anti-inflammatory properties, which help in clearing the air passages. Whether it is raw in a salad or cooked vegetables, one should consume more of onions when dealing with asthma.
Being rich in Vitamin C, lemons should be consumed at least once a day, along with water and sugar. According to ayurveda, it will help in relieving discomfort caused due to asthma.
Caffeine helps in curing asthma and helps clear the air passages. Having three cups of black tea/coffee a day works wonders and prevents asthma attacks.
Boil 5-6 cloves in half a glass of water, and add a spoonful of honey later. For effective results, this should be consumed twice a day.
