ARE YOU SUFFERING FROM HEEL PAIN?
Planter Fasciitis is the main cause of heel pain. The ligaments Plantar Fascia are the flat bands that connect the heel bone to the toes and these tissues support the arch of the foot. If these tissues are over exerted or damaged, they cause heel pain.
What causes heel pain?
Straining the ligament that supports the arch excessively causes tiny tears which leans to pain and swelling. There are a few factors that can affect your feet:
- High arches or flat feet
- Long hours of walking, standing or running
- Bad fit shoes
- Tight tendons or calf muscles
Symptoms and treatment for Plantar Fasciitis
Usually, the ones suffering will have pain which they take their first steps of the day, after which it will stop. But, the pain will gradually increase as the day progresses especially while climbing a flight of stairs or standing for long periods.
Doctors do a diagnosis based on past health and try to find out what the pain is like and where. They recommend cutting back on activities that aggravate the pain and rest your feet instead. Ice packs are used to reduce pain and swelling while painkillers are recommended in case of acute pain. Picking up a better pair of shoes, heel support and physiotherapy sessions or exercises also bring significant relief.
