Migraine and it's Ayurvedic treatment
Migraine is seen by recurrence of bouts of headache. It is usually seen associated with conditions like nausea, vomiting and hypersensitivity to light or sound. Migraine is genetic, it runs in the families. There are other contributory factors that triggers these issues.in some cases the condition prolongs to more than 72 hours. The triggering factors can be both the environmental factors or the systemic issues. environmental factors like there can be a lot of loud sounds, or crowded areas, or where there is physical stress happening.
So these are the contributory factors. Systemic problems can be the incorrect diet habits, fasting for longer periods of time, abstaining from liquids. If there is any hormonal imbalance in the system, addiction to coffee tea, any medicines can also trigger these headache, once it is there in the system, it takes a lot of time to get it out of the system and it varies from individual . Coming to treatment in Ayurveda, close relationship and be found with other conditions like in cases of anatavatha. If there is half sided headache, then we categories this as ardhavibhedaka conditions. Here though it is tridoshaja, wherein all the vata ,pitta, and kapha are under imbalance.
Predominantly vata ,pitta, doshas are seen to be under the imbalance conditions. So when we comes to prevention, we need to keep our stomach very clear. That is try to eat n time with adequate intake of fiber rich diet. Avoid highly fermented food stuff and aerated drinks, addiction of coffee and tea. Keep monitoring your diet and maintain it in a very healthy way followed by regular cleansing. Regular cleansing of the bowel is very important. So basti or virechana can be done with mahanaryana thaila. A dosage of 50 to 100 ml in the form of anuvasanabasti is done and that has proved to be very effective in migranous headache. The next panchkarma is nasyakarma. The nearest route is the nostrils. So in nasyakarma, the gogritataila is very effective. External application of neerkovai mathirai or internal intake or varanadi kashayam, or patyaksha dhatryadi kashayam and shirodhara is also very effective. So various procedures in panchkarma followed by shirodhara, when they are incorporated and used time to time, this migraine can be eliminated or prevented or further recurrence can be avoided.
