Can including ghee in diet lead to healthy joints in future
Ghee has been used both as medicines as well as food for thousands of years. Among all the fats available, ghee is the best form available edible to our system. So when we are talking about the effects of ghee, all kind of people can use this ghee for cooling as well as for medicines. When we talk about the effect of ghee, it has a very positive effect on the digestive system. It enhances the digestive capacity and enhances the capacity of nutrients and eliminates the toxic material from, the body.
This process of eliminating the toxic material from the body, has been used in some of these Ayurvedic treatments like before doing the pachkarma treatments, there is an activity called the poorvakarma where we administer ghee for 3, 5, 7 days depending on the digestive capacity of the person. This has not only been done not only for elimination. This has also been done to improve or rejuvenate the body but ghee has a positive effect of rejuvenation of our deep tissues. Everyone of us are going through this wear and tear and this wear and tear has effect on the connective tissue or joints. As we are ageing there is a lot of wear and tear in the joints and then the synovial fluid, in Ayurveda we call as the sleshakakapha is reduced and that will be replaced by increasing vatha.
So there will be a lot of cracking sounds in the joints. Also the flexibility and the mobility of the joints is also seen as we get older. So in such conditions when we start incorporating ghee instead of oil in our food, we see that is improved the flexibility. So it is seen that it has not only the repairing effect but also it has been replaced and nourishment is also achieved. So when we talk about Ayurveda, it is all about prevention. So to prevent the degeneration of joints and the osteoarthritis incorporating ghee instead of oil is very effective.
