Ayurvedic ways to manage Computer Vision Syndrome
Computer Vision Syndrome or CVS is a condition that arises because of focusing the eyes on computer or similar devices for a continuous for a long period of tie, the condition can be redness of the eyes ,or puffiness of the eyelids dryness or watery eyes or in some conditions headache, double vision, dizziness and pain in the neck. Like in for all conditions, prevention is better than cure. So how do we prevent this CVS? There are a lot many ways like for example. You need to be working in a well lit room and the distance between the monitor and your eyes has to be minimum around 12 to 15 inches in length.
Take short breaks to blink your eyes consciously. For every 20 minutes, you need to take a break of 20 seconds. And during this tom you can gaze into some beautiful scenery or green scenery which you can display in your room or if you have a window or trees outside, you can gaze into those leaves that will relax your ciliary muscles, Next thing is adequate rest, sleep well. If you need to be working for longer hours, you need to sleep well. This will also rest your eye muscles. Wish your eyes atleast twice daily with water and check your vision frequently to see if at all you have developed any vision problems, then you need to be correcting your vision too.
Otherwise again you will adding to the strain of your eyes. Once you have diagnosed with this condition, through Ayurveda, there are various methods you can manage both as prevention and as treatment, you have netra tarpana, were you have barriers but around the orbit of the eyes and medicated ghee like triphalati gritham or jeevantyadi gritham is retained for a stipulated period of time and then the person is asked to blink frequently, the blinking also depends on the kind of complaints and that is judged by the doctor, following by which it is removed and then entire thing is removed by a sterile cloth followed by which again fermentation is given for the eyes.
There are various other treatments like ashotana, is nothing but instilling of drops, prepared in medical ghee. This is poured over the eyes for a period of time an there are other treatments like seka, pindi, wherein we apply medicated lepams on the eye. All these treatments are well done to prevent as well as treat Computer Vision Syndrome.
