Treatment of Fissure in Ayurveda

In Ayurvedic science of medication, fissure in anal is not treated as another illness. All of the scholars take this problem under the title of Parikartika.

Parikartika is due to the imbalance in Vata and Pitta doshas of humans. The Vata doshas generall deals with the pains of the body, like cutting, feeling etc. while pitta confers the burning along with the swelling.

The best ayurvedic medicine for fistula and treatment for piles and fissures is Pilogest, which is considered very effective in curing these problems. But, if someone is suffering from severe bouts of haemorrhoids., he is suggested for Pilogest capsules along with Abhayaristam and Chiruvilwadi Kwath tablet for better results in healing.

Some of the Ayurvedic herbs that are used to promote healings:

Be it a case of acute or chronic fissures, sitz baths are incredibly beneficial. By soaking the rectal area in a tub of lukewarm water with some Triphala or Panchwalkal Kwath or any antiseptic solution, can heal the anal fissures.

Sitting in this tub for 10-15 minutes two or three times a day, such that the affected area is submerged in the medicated water. These baths effectively reduce pain, irritation and have a soothing effect on the area.

Kshara Sutra Ligation

In chronic cases where sentinel tag is formed, surgery becomes a necessity. Ayurveda uses a medicated alkaline thread instead of conventional surgical procedures.

It is a simple and safe treatment that doesn’t need hospitalization. This alkaline thread strangulates the tissues, and the tag eventually falls off in 5 days due to necrosis.

With time the fissure heals as well, with the help of ayurvedic healing oils like jatayadi and panchguna.
