Asthma is a long-term chronic condition and an inflammatory disease of the passageways of the lungs. It causes several health problems like coughing, shortness of breath, and stiffness of the chest. Some of the features of bronchial asthma include wheezing, fast heart rate, and prolonged expiration.

1. Ginger

3. Honey

Honey is probably regarded as the best way to ease asthma and has various other health benefits. The remedy includes having a teaspoon of honey mixed with hot water at least thrice a day; or one teaspoon of honey mixed with a half teaspoon of cinnamon powder before sleeping.

4. Onions

Onions possess anti-inflammatory properties, which help in clearing the air passages. Whether it is raw in a salad or cooked vegetables, one should consume more of onions when dealing with asthma.

5. Lemon

Lemon is a rich source of Vitamin C. It is good to consume it at least once a day, along with water and sugar. According to Ayurveda, consuming lemon mixed with hone provides you relief from discomfort caused due to asthma.

6. Black Tea/Coffee

Caffeine helps in curing asthma and helps in clearing the air passages. Having three cups of black tea/coffee a day works wonders and prevents asthma attacks. Herbal tea, made up of Ajwain (Trchyspermum), pepper, ginger, and Ocimum sanctum (Tulsi) is also one of the good ayurvedic remedies to treat asthma. 

7. Clove

Mixing cloves with peel banana proves to be beneficial for strengthening your lungs. Alternatively, you can also boil 5-6 cloves in half a glass of water, and add a spoonful of honey later. If you want the results to be useful, leave the mixture overnight and consume it in the morning. Well, this is an excellent ayurvedic remedy and should be consumed twice a day to prevent asthma attacks.

8. Turmeric

Turmeric has always been the subject of many studies and found with some anti-allergic properties. Well, according to the studies, turmeric is considered to be one of the effective natural remedies for most diseases, including asthma. Turmeric affects the histamines that result in the inflammation. If you have asthma, mixing one teaspoon of turmeric powder with a glass of milk and consuming it every day is an effective ayurvedic and home remedy.
