15 Diet and Health Tips Every 30 year Old Should Know
As you step into your thirties, your body goes through a considerable change. For some of us, a look in the mirror may reveal a few grey hair strands here and there, a receding hairline, or a bulgy stomach. The burden of responsibilities and our busy life schedules often leave us with little time to care of our health. Making the right choices is very important at this stage of life, as our lifestyle and eating habits will decide the road ahead of us. There are certain things that one needs to keep in mind while taking care of oneself at this juncture of life:
1. Make a long term pact with a workout that you enjoy
You are wise enough to realise by this time that exercise has a pivotal role in maintaining a good and healthy life. It works as an instant energizer if you are in a bad mood, increases your stamina, boosts your creativity, and makes sure that there are lesser sick days in your work calendar. You can choose any form of workout that you want;be it yoga, cycling, gymming, Zumba, skipping, running or any other form of exercise that you think you will enjoy.
2. Be well hydrated
Your body is 60% water and that is enough for you to comprehend that it requires the daily quota of water intake to function efficiently. It not only saves you from dehydration, but also keeps your skin and hair in perfect health. Make a conscious effort to drink around 2-2.5 litres of water each day (that is about 10 glasses). Drinking sufficient water will spring up benefits that will leave you surprised at the end of the day.
3. Quit the white stick
If you have not started smoking, that’s great news and make sure you keep that resolution all your life. If you are into the habit, 30s can be the ideal time when you must work on quitting it. Smoking increases the chances of you getting diagnosed with lung cancer (and steps up the risks of other cancers as well), worsens your asthma, damages your teeth and causes a plethora of complications.
4. Be more active
A sedentary lifestyle can leave you with severe health conditions such as obesity, diabetes or a heart disease. Your job may require you to sit in front of your computer for long hours, but make sure that you manage to plan your activities in such a way that there is an adequate amount of activity in your daily life. Stand up and take a walk while making phone calls, use the farthest washroom, keep yourself well hydrated which will increase your trips to the toilet and use the stairs instead of the lift.
5. Be moderate when it comes to drinking
An evening after a hectic day at office, the birthday party of your best buddy, breaking up from a long-term relationship or a trip to the serene mountains- every occasion calls for a drink in today’s times. While drinking comes up as the obvious first choice for celebrating and mourning alike, too much of it can have adverse effects on your health. Too much of alcohol can make you overweight and also be the reason for stroke or cancer. It is better that you drink in moderation. It saves both your money and health.
- A good family doctor is a must-have person in your life
It is important to have a steady relationship with your family doctor. He/ She would have an acute knowledge about your medical history, the allergies that you have and the way your body reacts to certain medications. Moreover, if you need a specialist any time, your doctor may help you to find the right one.
- Have a knowledge of the health history of your family
Your well-being also depends on the medical history of your family members. If you are well acquainted with their health history, it allows you to be better prepared for disorders that can be hereditary like high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, asthma, etc.
Being in your 30s is the time when you experience optimum work and relationship pressure. This can often drain you physically and emotionally, leading to depression and other mental illness. Incorporating a meditation practice in your daily schedule will certainly help you to deal with the stress and make you calmer. You will learn to control your anger, handle complicated situations in a much better way and keep your mind as well as body healthy.
- Ensure that you get adequate sleep
You may want to go out for late night parties, watch a night show or spend your nights scrolling through your social media accounts, but you should remember that getting sufficient sleep is of prime importance, be it any age that you are in. Eight hours of sleep each day should be a thumb rule that you must diligently follow. Cut out the time you spend watching television or other activities and indulge in a good night’s sleep.
- Let the travel bug bite you
It has been proven scientifically that the more you go to new places, fill your mind with new landscapes and meet new people with varied cultures, the better your health condition will be. Hence, do not let your tight schedules cage you where you are. Make sure that you visit the misty mountains, tranquil beaches and the adventurous forests once in a while.
- Eat at regular intervals
After 25, your metabolism rate starts dropping. Eating meals at regular intervals instead of a large meal at one time can be more beneficial for you. With every meal, the body needs to digest and also absorb the food, thus allowing the metabolism to rev up.
- Focus more on fruits and vegetables
Include a wide variety of fruits and vegetables in your diet. It not only adds flavour to your platter, but also provides you with a balanced nutritious meal. Their vitamin and mineral content keeps you healthy and protects you from many diseases.
- Nuts for energy
A handsome amount of nuts must be included in your diet for all the energy that you need to see off the morning blues. It can be peanuts, hazelnuts or walnuts. Enriched with vitamin B and E, they help better blood circulation and wipe off fatigue. Make sure that you do not eat too much of them though.
- Beans for glowing skin
Beans are replete with antioxidants that help to deal with the molecules that damage the skin due to pollution and over exposure to the sun. Including beans in your diet would mean a younger and a radiant skin.
