What is Polycystic Ovary Syndrome?

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal disorder common among women in the reproductive system. It is the primary cause of heftiness & infertility in women all over the world. Women with PCOS may have infrequent or prolonged menstrual periods or excess male hormone (androgen) levels which leads to symptoms such as Skin inflammation, male pattern baldness, unwanted facial hair, and dark pigmentation of the skin, particularly around the neck (known as acanthosis nigricans), weight gain.

FSH hormones and LH hormones control ovulation. A polycystic ovarian syndrome is a group of symptoms that affects the ovaries and ovulation.

PCOS three main features are-

Cysts in the ovaries, irregular periods, High levels of the male hormone. PCOS patients are given specific and customized treatment according to the patient's particular well-being needs. Such customized approach helps in naturally re-adjusting the hormones. Effective ayurvedic treatment concentrates on balancing the tissue nutrition, amending the lack of balance of doshas (bio-energies that represent the body), and enhancing digestion. It additionally aids in healthy & moderate weight loss, decreased body & facial hair development, and diminishes skin inflammation.

What causes PCOS, according to Ayurveda?

According to the Ayurveda, the three forces of energy or 'doshas' – Vatta, Pitta, and Kapha circulate in the body and facilitate essential functions of the body. In healthy individuals, the three forces of energy are in perfect harmony. Ayurveda believes any imbalances in the three doshas can lead to illness.

According to the Ayurveda, the Shukra dhatu (semen) is available in both men and women. It plays an essential role in maintaining the health of the reproductive system. Shukra Dhatu is a combination of an estrogen (female hormone) and androgen (male hormone), and any imbalance in this can lead to infertility.

An imbalance in the three forces of energy or doshas can affect the efficiency of Shukra dhatu. When doshas affect the efficacy of Shukra dhatu in women, it contributes to excessive production of male hormones and other symptoms of PCOS, such as the appearance of ovarian cysts.
